Who Are You: Kristaps Ritms

If ever a name reflects one’s passion, Latvian self-proclaimed beat maker Kristaps Ritms has chosen his name wisely – his pseudonym ‘Ritms’ translates to ‘rhythm’ (from Latvian). With a vast background in underground hip hop and rap, Kristaps is currently one of Latvia’s up-and coming young sound scapers, creating chaotically experimental yet resonant new-school beats. Forming the Sigulda Ritmi collective with his colleague da-w (Dāvis Petrikas), Kristaps is currently also part of the legendary Dirty Deal Audio beat maker team. Having performed in art museums, various festivals and cultural events, his recorded tracks are also featured on the ‘HHRadio collection Vol. 1’ (2010) and the long awaited last year’s Dirty Deal Audio selection ‘v/a LV Beats’ (2012). After participating in the first ever track producing camp Baltic Trail, our young musical hero feels quite inspired to work on new beats. This is what Kristaps reveals about himself:
